How to Form a Team

Forming a Team for the Walk for Change

Hundreds of colleges, universities, companies, friends and families, and community groups join the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center’s Walk for Change every year. Whether you’re a team of 5 or 200, a group of friends or an entire school, each and every walker makes a difference! You have the power to help us prevent sexual violence.

If you need help setting up your team, please follow these step-by-step instructions on how to create a new team or join an existing team. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime at events [at] barcc.org.

Register Your Team Now

Teams of 10 or more people:
Receive 50% off registration! To get the discount, team captains can contact events [at] barcc.org.

Teams with less than 10 people:
Register and pay for everyone online at barccwalk.org.

What makes a team?

A team consists of group of 2–200 (or more; there is no limit!) walkers who are working together to fundraise for BARCC and the Walk for Change.

  • A team captain must first register the team before you can join a team.
  • Once the team has been created, you will be able to search by the team name when you register.
  • If you’ve already registered, it’s not too late! You can create or join a team anytime. Simply follow these instructions.

Groups we’ve had in the past include the following:

  • Sororities and fraternities
  • College and professional athletic teams
  • Professional groups and coalitions
  • Police and public safety services
  • Social clubs (running, book, knitting, etc.)
  • Community service groups
  • Corporate employee groups
  • Faculty and staff

Team support

BARCC has put together a package of resources to assist teams in reaching their fundraising goals and recruiting team members for the Walk for Change.

  • Team support: We work closely with captains, providing fundraising assistance, template e-mails, and promotional materials.
  • Team site fundraising resources: Featuring fundraising e-mail/letter samples, social media content, and other tools to help you reach and exceed your fundraising goals.

How much does it cost to register?
What are the payment options?
My team members are paying their own registration fee. How can they do that?
How much does it cost to register?

$20 per person for teams of 10+ people. Teams with less than 10 people register for $40 per person.

What are the payment options?

Teams can pay for their participants to register or individual teammates can register and pay their own registration fees. Either way, please contact events [at] barcc.org for your discount code.

My team members are paying their own registration fee. How can they do that?

Give them your coupon code, direct them to your team’s fundraising page, and have them click “Join Team!”

The Walk day-of registration fee is $45. Make sure to register early to get your discount!
